Afternoon at 210 Taikang Road

Today we spent the morning relaxing until Glynis made me get off the couch and get ready to go swimming :-)

After our swim and lunch, we headed out in a taxi with Glynis and Kevin's friend Sanna to go to 210 Taikang Road which is an artsy district on the Puxi side of Shanghai.

The traffic was a bit nuts but eventually we got there. It was a great area to walk around and look in the little boutiques, art galleries and jewellery stores. It was also a really good place to take photos as the area was side-by-side Chinese residential areas so it was a real juxtaposition of modern and traditional.

After walking around for a while, we headed to Kommune Cafe for a drink. I was stoked to find Coopers Pale Ale on the menu! Kevin ordered the biggest hot chocolate I've seen. The photo is of the fish tank in the cafe which is full of Mao Zedong dolls :-)

Kevin and Sanna headed off and Glynis and I wandered around a bit more before heading back to the Kommune Cafe for some food. We then made our way to the nearest metro station which actually ended up being about a 20 minute walk. After a beautiful sunny day, by the late afternoon when we were walking to the metro it had really cooled down so we stopped at Starbucks so I could get a handwarmer commonly called a cappuccino.

Once we got to the metro, we realised that it was peak hour so the trains were super crowded. Luckily we only went two stops before changing lines and it was a bit quieter. We finally got home about 7.30pm. A great day!
